In Ulysses: Proteus [Part 1] is finally complete.
It took a while! 2 years! Why? How?
V.R. is hard. Game development is hard. I came from an animation background and had to learn from scratch how to make interactive VR experiences. I had help from many places - online mostly - but I kept hitting problems that I couldn't solve.
My block led me to realise that not only do I want to purse this kind of work, but I want to learn more about it - so I'm in the process of finishing a MSc in Creative Digital Media in DIT, Dublin. If I started this project with what I know now, it would have got done much quicker!
For instance, I didn't know how to code. Now I know how to code.
I didn't know about development best practices. Now I know about development best practices.
Also, the delay was basically what happens to a lot of crowdfunding projects: overeagerness leads to underestimating the cost, which leads to funds running out early, which slows the whole process down.
I brought in my good friend Barry Murphy to become partners on the project, and we worked hard together to finish this demo.
We decided to call ourselves "Antics".
This weekend anticsvr.com will go live - with a download link to a Windows 10 Alpha version of In Ulysses. If you don't have an Oculus Rift, it will work as a regular game would.
Now I can concentrate on the rewards and a public event where anyone can come along and experience In Ulysses in VR in person.
If you would like to get involved in Antics VR, contact us through the site - we would love to hear from you.
THANK YOU EVERYONE!
Preview of Proteus!

102% and counting! Thank you everyone, it has been a wonderful week. To get this kind of support from so many people is very touching and fantastically motivational. There are still two days left on the campaign so it's not over yet. If you know anyone who still wishes to support it by all means point them towards the fundit page!
I'll be in contact with you all again very shortly!
Here we go!

Oh by the way, in the past 24 hours the project has gone a little viral and has been featured on Kotaku, Vice, Buzzfeed, Engadget and a lot more websites. I'm currently trying to change that goodwill into funders, but at least we know that there is an audience out there waiting for this once it is finished. Thanks for getting involved early, and here's hoping we can meet the target!
3k broken and 3 days to go!

Wow, what a week! Thank you, thank you and thank you! The fundit is now 25% away from being funded so I'll be spending a lot of this weekend making calls and generally acting like one the fundraising characters from a film about an election or something. Or Alec Baldwin from Glengarry Glen Ross. ABC! ABC! ABC!
