Dingle Pow-Wow: March 25 2017

We are delighted to launch a new event aimed specifically at young creatives in the film industry to assist them in gaining knowledge of both film and television. This new festival day long event entitled Dingle Pow-Wow will bring together industry leaders from Ireland and abroad to assist in the growth of film and television here in Kerry. Professional leaders will give their story to assist young filmmakers in achieving theirs.

We need your support in making this happen as it is an extra event and it goes beyond what we have been able to achieve to date through traditional funding means. This event will help us attract and bring more filmmakers to our festival and give them the knowledge they need in finding work within the film industry. It will help involve filmmakers attending our festival in a new and rewarding way. It is essential we raise funds via Fund It to ensure we can make this event happen. Using Fund It allows us to connect with a wider audience and to reach out to our many past festival attendees and guests.

The day will have a number of inspiring panel discussions looking at; The Rise of American Television, women in the industry, going from the success of the short to feature and using crowdfunding to get there, directing the actor, masterclasses with top directors coming to Dingle from America, UK, Europe and Ireland.

Dingle International Film Festival is a boutique festival that makes room for everyone. Couched within the breathtaking town of Dingle, home to The Gregory Peck Award and Murakami Award. The festival takes place annually in March. Housed within this Gaeltacht area, DingleIFF is proud to promote the Irish language and is the only festival offering an award for Irish script writing with it's Fisin event. Dingle is home to many film makers, one of Ireland's only independent cinemas, is a known film location (Star Wars Ryan's Daughter) and a major tourist destination, making it the perfect hot for out festival.

Maurice Galway is the founder of Dingle IFF and current CEO/Artistic Director. Working with festivals since 1994, he has over 22 years experience in the festival sector. His own films have screened in China, London, New York and Cannes. His feature film Pauline Bewick: Yellow Man Grey Man screened on RTE1 and SKY Arts New Zeland. He is a Council Member of IFI, Member of Soho House all house access. We have a strong Board of Directors including; Michael Ryan credited with over 200 films, Ned Dowd has 30 years experience in film, Mandy Kean is European Director of Cinema for Soho House & Co, Marc Flanagan winner of 2 Emmy Awards and a Writer Guild Award, Brenda Ni Shuilleabhain, Brian de Staic, John Benny Moriarty and Micheal O Dulaing.
