Artist/Kevin Callaghan

My crowd fund is for an ongoing residency at the National Sculpture Factory, supported by The NSF leading to a solo show in New York in 2018.
By purchasing one of these great rewards you will be supporting a young Irish Artist to develop his practice at this ongoing residency and help him to continue exhibiting nationally as well as internationally.

I will work in a number of disciplines and mediums including laser cut wood and metal, ceramic and 3D printing.

I grew up in Donegal as a child of the 80s. At the age of 15 I realised I wanted to pursue art and design as I found a real interest in creating. Taking that interest to a logical step I studied Art for the Leaving Cert. I actually failed Honours Art but was determined enough to get into art and design school in Derry. Ten years later I found myself enrolled in a Masters at the Royal College of Art after finishing a BA at the Crawford College of Art in Cork. Next to practising as an artist, I regularly teach intensive sculpture workshops in both Ireland and London and have taught homeless individuals through collaboration with Crisis in the UK. I feel importance in giving back the knowledge I have learned.

At this stage of my career it is very important that I have the funds to thrive in this current climate. This is why I am crowd funding to further develop my career as an Irish artist. The National Sculpture Factory has sponsored my space to continue this exciting new work.

The money received through this crowd fund will purely be spent on the production of new artworks in both 2D and 3D. It will go towards the shipping costs/insurance, materials and the promotion of the artwork.

I am very experienced in my field and I am confident that my project will be successful. It is a self-lead undertaking, which is not new to me. In essences with the financial support the ongoing work on the residency will allow me to deliver the rewards on time. I am asking for a minimum of €3,500 and I feel the rewards are a great exchange. You can visit the rewards page on my website http://www.kevincallaghan.ie/Crowdfund-1.

Thank you so much for your support, it really means the world to me, could not do it with out you and that's the truth.
