'100 Snow White Horses' is the name of a new album of songs that I am extremely excited to be recording in London with producer John Reynolds and singer Pauline Scanlon. It's the best album I've ever made. The songs are full of poetry, Irish mythology, melody and wonder and the album will have a fairy-tale feel and an atmosphere of fantasy and enchantment. Here are some of the song titles;

With Pauline's ethereal backing vocals, my song-poems and John Reynold's amazing skill, we are painting what we are calling a snowy soundscape. We are calling the project 'John Spillane's Lapwing Nation' and the album '100 Snow White Horses'. In exploring the rich world of Irish mythology I feel I'm continuing the work of Horslips with the Book of Invasions in the 1970s. The album will be an independent release on cd and vinyl and I will manage the release myself.
It will be a full 360 degree release starting with the recording process in London, right through to an international release including the promotion of the record. The money will be spent on travel, recording, musicians, mixing, mastering, duplication on cd and vinyl, artwork and promotion. This record will be world class sonically, will be original and imaginative and this will also be reflected in the artwork and professional handling of the release.
I first worked with John and Pauline on my 2005 EMI album 'Hey Dreamer' and then on 'The Gaelic Hit Factory' in 2006 and 'My Dark Rosaleen' and the Island of Dreams' in 2008.
After 10 years and many adventures we are back working together and now that we are all better at what we do, we are combining our skills and painting this, our masterpiece. It was wonderful for me to have been signed to EMI Records for 10 years and now I'm looking forward to sharing this new journey in partnership with yourselves in this Fund it campaign.
If I am successful in reaching my Fund it target, I am lucky enough to have had many years experience in releasing records and I know how to work with professional people who will help me to deliver this top class record on time and within budget.
I believe in community and my songs are community based. I wish to form a community around this record. I hope enjoy the rewards I've come up with for this campaign! This will enable me to release this record independently. I am grateful that Laois Arts Office and Ballyphehane 1916-2016 Committee have already offered patronage. Thank you all.
