18 - 35

By Conflicted Theatre

description

WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA?
Joe belongs to the 18 - 35 demographic. He has done everything that has been expected of him: he did well at school, a keen sportsman, got his degree, followed by a decent job. As a result Joe has the life that the Celtic Tiger promised him: a car, a mortgage, his health, he can afford to eat out at decent restaurants and enjoys putting away a few pints with friends, just like the rest of us. In short, Joe is grand.

Something has started happening to Joe, but he can't quite tell what it is. The sheen has come off his 'perfect' life. Why does the person who has 'everything' feel as if there is something lacking? Joe goes in search of the answer. What decisions have led him to this place? What could he have done differently? Would it really make a difference?

18 - 35 travels with Joe through some of the memories, regrets, ambitions and goals of his generation and asks: what is it that connects us and can a demographic or a generation have a true sense of identity?

WHO WE ARE
Conflicted Theatre make shows through adaptation and devising. We make theatre that has physical vigour and flair, and steers clear of the more conventional writer-centric modes of production. Our focus is on breaking down the hierarchy between text, movement, sound and image.

We use our imaginations as best we can to engage yours.

WHAT'S THE PLAN?
Conflicted Theatre plan to stage 18-35 at the former FAS building on Sullivan's Quay, Cork, which will run from April 23-28 inclusive, and rehearse on site from April 16-22 inclusive. 18 - 35 is a devised promenade piece which will traverse the floors and spaces of the building.

The production will involve a cast of five professional actors and a creative team of writer-directors, producer, sound, lighting & stage design, and stage management.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
We have raised 50% of our production costs so far, through private sponsorship and in-kind support. The €3,000 we hope to raise, through your generosity and support, would make up the remaining 50% of our budget, and allow for the successful realisation of this original and innovative production.

Thank you!!

Only 36 Hours Left!!

Thanks so much to all you pledgers - your generous support is gratefully received! We still have €975 left to be pledged: unless we hit the target, we don't get a cent. We know you all have done your bit already, but if we could call on you to encourage one other person to pledge in the next 24 hours, we might have some hope of hitting the target, and getting those much needed funds to make our production happen. The actors have been working with Gavin & Evan yesterday and today. We've also had movement director Inma Pavon working with the group. So far, everyone is giving their time for free - with the small amount of funds raised, we will be able to pay our cast and crew for the work they have been putting in. Thank you for helping to make that happen - fingers crossed we make it over the finish line!

Over €1k pledged in first week!

Wow! We're blown away by everyone's generosity and goodwill. We've had just over €1,000 pledged in the first week of our campaign, but still have two weeks and two thousand more euros to raise! The project itself is progressing apace, with a full cast in place, and Gavin & Evan planning to have a 2 workshop days with the cast in about 10 days time, which will help them to finalise some of the ideas they've been working with before going into full rehearsal. We thought it would be worth mentioning the brilliant The Altered Hours, who are our neighbours at Sample Studios and also provided the soundtrack for our promo video. You can check out more of their excellent tuneage at: http://thealteredhours.bandcamp.com/ Thanks again to all our funders, you've made us very happy and encouraged us no end!
