My name is Alan Hurley and I am a watercolour portrait artist in Cork City, Ireland. I want to create and print a high quality art book showing my best art work and talking through my process of creating a painting. If this Fund it is successful, I'll print 200 120 page hardback A4 sized books. It will have a very high quality production and will look amazing on any coffee table or book shelf.
The first half of the book will feature my own portrait artwork while the latter half will show paintings in stages as they're painted. This will show the process I use while painting an artwork. This will be perfect for students of art or for those who are just interested in what goes into painting a portrait.
A little section at the back will show some random sketch artwork and street art I've done with volunteers in Cork City.
You can get an idea of the art style by visiting www.alanhurleyartist.com .
I have been painting all my life and I've been a full time artist since 2013. Since then I've been working on building a career as a portrait artist in Cork City. I have also co created the guerrilla street art group Mad About Cork which brings a lot of colour and artwork to the urban public realm in Cork City.
I'm using Fund it for this project because without it I won't be able to fund the book. I could print off a much lesser production right now but I feel by using Fund it, I have an opportunity to reach out and create a book that will look great in any home or school.
If successful, the money raised will be spent on 200 120 page high quality hardback books plus graphic design. I believe paying slightly extra for the best cover and paper will be worth it. I'll also be using a designer to create a professional layout for the book and he/she will need to be paid. A small percentage then goes to Fund it.
The project should take two months to complete. That's from the very beginning from the design stage to the print stage. However it could take a few weeks extra due to unexpected external influences. I plan to have them ready before Christmas.
Thank you very much for giving me your time reading about my project and double thanks if you decide to fund my project. Without you I wouldn't reach my goal.

Just a quick update on the book. I got to see a first draft yesterday which means the book won't be ready for Christmas which is unfortunate. I wanted it to be ready by now but it's out of my hands. If were depending on it for Christmas let me know. I'm going to give everyone a couple of prints along with the book when it's finished.
Genuine apologies for the delay.

Fundit will send me the list of names of everyone who pledged and the reward they picked once all the credit cards go through.
For those who chose to commission an original artwork can you send me a photo of the person you want drawn or painted to my email address at firstname.lastname@example.org .
The book is out of my hands at the moment and is being designed by a designer. I hope to have it printed by mid December. All artworks will be done before Christmas.
