AnTara--debut album

By AnTara

description

AnTara are a unique duo featuring Tommy Hayes and Matthew Noone.

Tommy is a legendary Irish percussionist and founding member of the iconic group Stocktons Wing.

Matthew is a well known performer of the 25 stringed Indian lute called sarode and has studied Indian Classical music for over a decade with Sougata Roy Chowdhury in Kolkata and K. Sridhar in the UK.

This unique project was formed after Matthew was awarded funds from Music Network Ireland to design and purchase a hybrid sarode for collaborations within the Irish music tradition. The project draws upon the slow lyrical style of East Clare music as well Indian drones, a plethora of percussion and experimental acoustic loops.

We have just finished recording and mixing our debut album with guest harpist and vocalist Níamh Ní Bhrían.

We have self funded all of the recording and mixing ourselves with some assistance from the Clare Arts Office. However, we now need extra assistance to press the album into both CD and a limited edition run of vinyl. We want our album to be a work of art that you can hold in your hands as well as enjoy listening to.

We are offering a range of rewards for funders such as advance signed copies of the album, one-to-one lessons, intimate house concerts and even some rare apple trees.

We are planning an album launch in Dublin on Oct 29th (venue tbc). We also are planning a series of intimate gigs in Clare, Cork and Galway.

Once the project is a success, CD copies of the album will be delivered before the album launch and vinyl copies should be ready by early November.

We are really excited about the album and are looking forward to people hearing it very soon. Thanks for your interest and support.

AnTara...the 2nd album...

Dear funders, We hope you have been enjoying the fruits of our previous campaign in the form of our debut album. We have been busy gigging and preparing for our follow up...the difficult 2nd album! Last week, we were recording with the uber-talented Jack Talty from Ensemble Eriu and Realach Records. We've taken quite a different approach to this record and the tracks are sounding really interesting. We were so overwhelmed by the support of our previous fundit campaing that we've decided to do it again. Soon we will be announcing a new campaign to help raise funds for the mixing, mastering and graphic design for our new CD. We'll be offering funders early copies of the album plus some other unique rewards. Stay tuned to our Facebook page or keep an eye on fundit.ie Thanks for your time Le meas, Matthew (Mattu) Noone

Post campaign bliss!

Tommy and I are literally beside ourselves! Still reeling after the roller coaster ride of our successful Fund It campaign. We are just finalizing all the paper work on our end now. Also, working on the exciting part of deciding the cover art for the album. CD and vinyl pressing should begin early to mid September. Fund it Update

We made it! Our crowd funding campaign finished this morning and we made our full target of €2,500 with just a few hours to go. We feel totally blessed and so encouraged by all the positive support and feedback. Again, a heartfelt thank you to all who pledged funds and also to anyone who helped spread the word during the campaign. It will be a couple of weeks before the funds are processed but we should be pressing the album early in September and have copies sent out to you before our launch dates in October. We have a few other interesting gigs coming up in the next few weeks and also are planning a website launch...so we'll keep you informed. www.antara.ie

Final week of campaign!

Dear funders, Thanks to all of you, we are now only €640 away from our target! We have just 1 week left to raise the final funds to get us over the line and to bring you our album. We were in the studio last week and made the final mix and it is sounding fantastic. Please spread the word of the project through your own networks for one last burst towards the finish line. Le meas, Matthew

Woah, oh....we're half way there!

Dear funders, We have just tipped the half way mark towards our target! Thank you all for your support and pledges. We are really looking forward to getting this album into your hands and hopefully meeting some of you in person at a gig. In the meantime, here is a link to the full video shot by Jonathan Castillo which we used as the backdrop for our fundit intro video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXhJ73-1Hn0

Galway Fringe Festival this Friday 24th July

Hi wonderful funders! We are still a little overwhelmed by the positive response in the first week and a bit of our campaign. We are 27% funded already. Thank you for all funds, big or small, and for continuing to spread the word. We have one more gig this month this Friday 24th July as part of the Galway Fringe festival. The venue is De Burgos and it kicks off at 8pm. Should be a nice one. If you are in the locality drop by and let us know you are a funder and we'll buy you a drink and even dedicate a set to you. Le Meas, Matthew

Week 1 update-go raibh mile maith agaibh

Hi funders, Firstly a big thank you for your contributions to the project. We have been overwhelmed by the response in the first week since launching the campaign. We are already at €452! We had a great gig on Saturday in Dublin supporting Sona Jobarteh in the Sugar Club. Perhaps some of you heard about the project from that gig. There was a distinct jump of funders the day after the gig...so go raibh mile maith agaibh. Please continue to spread the word to friends you might be interested as this is the best way to help make the project a success. Le Meas, Matthew

1st day of campaign update

Thanks so much for being our first funders! In our first day since launching the campaign we have raised almost 10% of our total goal. We have had 167 likes and 34 shares of the project on face book in 24 hours. Please continue to spread the word to others and keep the project alive. We are getting ready for a gig in Dublin this Saturday in the Sugar Club with Gambian kora player Sona Jobarteh. If you're around please drop in and say hello. https://www.facebook.com/events/805352346200984/ Le Meas, Matthew
