Thank-you for visiting our page. My name is Joleen O'Brien and I am the writer and producer of Any Summers. The production was originally run in collaboration with Tobar Na Run Theatre Company. The show debuted in March 2013 running for a sell-out two weeks at the Theatre @36 Teachers’ Club on Parnell Square, Dublin 1. I have decided to re-run and re-produce the show in the Axis Ballymun from April 10th-12th, 2014, as I believe the actors and the play deserve their chance on a bigger stage.
The Axis Ballymun has been the chosen venue for Any Summers as we believe that the Axis Theatre is having a culturally positive impact on Ballymun and surrounding areas. The core ethos of Axis Ballymun is centred on creativity and cultural diversity; it enables local citizens of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy and conveniently access all the qualities of the arts that are entertaining, artistic and a valued experience. The selection process for this venue is to continue to represent and reflect the identities of Dublin’s communities and to continue to showcase Dublin as a city of rich cultural diversity. Any Summers was written mainly for females to continue to support women in the Arts. We also wish to inspire other people who are involved in the theatre to participate in the city’s cultural life.
However, to do this we do need your help, presently we are trying to raise funds to pay for the venue, public liability insurance, programmes, posters, flyers and a rehearsal space. Dublin City Council have also sponsored us 500 euro to pay the deposit on the Venue. Which we really appreciate. We would be most greatful if you could help in anyway that you can. Also have a look at our rewards and see what may literally tickle your fancy. The money raised for this play will be a huge contribution in ensuring that Dublin continues to showcase itself as a city of rich cultural diversity.
"Cast Run Rampant in Hilarious New Play"
Any Summers, a hilarious romp based on an Ann Summers party. Six very diverse women, a mix of age and backgrounds, turn up at Mariannas Party. The play opens with naughty games and the women are shown some very aptly named toys e.g "Horn on the Cob". However, the play is not all slapstick, there is a serious undertone to proceedings as the women reveal their colourful pasts. Audiences will laugh and cry in equal measure. The play will take place in the Axis Ballymun for 3 nights only on the 10th-11th-12th of April 2014
