ARTzheimer's

By ARTzheimer's

description

ARTzheimer's sixth exhibition, titled 'Light & Shade' began a national artist callout back in May 2016 with promotion and advertising being supported by South Dublin Co. Co. We received an overwhelming response. A total of 92 artists applied to take part, with a final twenty being selected to go forward to the next exhibition.
Each of the chosen artists will receive a substantial fee for their work, a minimum of two years promotion on the ARTzheimer's website, social media platforms and a touring exhibition in 2017/18.

ARTzheimer's is not afraid to highlight the many issues that people and families face when met with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's. Our next collection and the various themes involved are focusing on elements of 'a broken care system'; 'institutional environments'; 'loneliness & isolation'; 'medical v non-medical'. This will also be balanced against the 'lighter' side of dementia such as 'connection'.

We know for a fact that art changes people and in turn, people change the world. We are advocating through the medium of art for a broader perspective.

We took our time over the last two years growing it organically and gaining public momentum and support throughout each exhibition. We've listened carefully to those audience members that have taken the time to attend one of our exhibitions and are confident that we are making a difference.

We have recently raised funding of 5,000e from the following:

Dublin Bus Community Spirit Awards, South Dublin Co. Co. and Tesco's Community Initiative. This money goes directly towards the following costs:

€5,000 = 10 of the 20 artists selected, each paid €500 commissioned fee for their artwork.

The money received through this crowdfund will purely be spent on the following essential costs:

€5,000 = remaining 10 artists, each will receive €500 fee for their artwork

If we exceed our goal, we'll be able to cover additional costings including promotional material, production costs, rewards and wine for launch night.

We need your support

We have worked hard over the last two years to make ARTzheimer's a success. We secured five different venues based on our growing reputation to deliver compelling work. Most of the project challenges have been met and overcome through sheer determination. The outstanding ones are the production and funding components which this campaign addresses.

The money you pledge for this initiative will not only enable us to bring Alzheimer's as a topic out from the shadows and into the vibrancy of mainstream arts and culture but it will directly support the immensely talented and diverse group of emerging artists who we've selected to take part in this year's ARTzheimer's exhibition.

Your time and support for this project means so much to us here at ARTzheimer's.

Warmest regards,

Eimear & Aisling (Team ARTzheimer's)
