Eat My Noise here -Peter Power and David Duffy!

We want to give you details of a really ambitious project planned for this years Cork Midsummer Festival, a project that we are very excited to bring it to life… but in order to do that we need a little help from our friends and supporters.

The performance we have planned is called A:Volution; it’s an electro-acoustic symphony cycle set to 9 poems.

We’re bringing over 30 musicians and the Voice Effect Choir together to combine with our live electronics, as well as a New York specialist on interactive visuals. With the help of some very tech-y friends we aim to give you an all Immersive Surround Sound experience, where designed lighting will create an environment where the experience will transport you to a new space, often dark but definitely engaging.

Simply put, A:Volution, as we see it, is a series of events in verse unfolding in a unique electro-acoustic chamber music setting. We are doing this because shaking up contemporary chamber music with a new sound is what we’re about! Making it modern, but accessible.

Our Duo Eat My Noise started in 2009 after we studied an MA in Composition at University College Cork. With similar interests and tastes for music, our rapport was established. We always attempt to combine fresh, new thinking and it has been producing a growing portfolio of multi-platform collaborative works for short film, theatre and dance. We like to challenge the familiar in unfamiliar ways.

A:Volution is no different, but this is our big one. But with the help of our amazing team of musicians, the Voice Effect Choir and designers, we are all on board and we want to bring this unique experience to you!

Right now the two of us (Dave and Peter) are in the depths of composing this new and original score and come June John O’Brien will join us to lead the team for rehearsals… we can’t wait to Feed your our Noise!

But to make this happen we need the practical stuff too - funding this performance will help us get materials that we simply cannot get any other way – rehearsal venue hire, electricity, lights, costumes, audio visual equipment.
