Beyond The Woods

Beyond The Woods is a feature length horror film which we're shooting in rural Ireland. It's about a group of friends who go to a secluded holiday home for the weekend so they can catch up with each other, re-connect and escape their busy lives. Unfortunately for them, a fiery sinkhole has opened in the mountain nearby, it's burning hot, and spewing out an awful stench of sulphur. Over the course of the weekend, some of the friends start behaving out of character, one disappears, and they all experience troubling events. It's too late when they realise that it's not just a sinkhole that has opened near their isolated retreat, but something altogether more horrific.

Beyond The Woods is the debut feature by writer / director Sean Breathnach. Sean is an Irish film director, writer and editor. His films have been screened in festivals worldwide, some of them picking up awards on the way. You can see a sample of his work here: vimeo.com/seanbreathnach

Dan O'Connell is executive Producer.Along with being an award winning filmmaker, Dan is also founder of egomotion.net, Cork's online filmmaking community with over 400 members and lecturer of BA Film at University College Cork.

At present we are deep in pre production. We plan on starting the shoot in July, with a view to having the film edited, graded and ready for the festival circuit at the end of the year.

The funding raised by your pledges on Fund it will used to pay for everything we need during our shoot. Yes, 11,000 seems like a ridiculously low figure with which to shoot a movie, but most people working on this movie are giving their services for practically nothing. The money will go on props, masks, blood, makeup, equipment hire, locations, transport, food, posters - everything we need to make this movie look great. It would be fantastic if we could raise more than 11k - we would then be able to hire more equipment, market the film better, send it out to more festivals, and perhaps even pay some of the people working on the film a little bit for their efforts.
