Carrick-on-Shannon Water Music Festival

By Carrick On Shannon Water Music

description

Who are we?

The 2012 Carrick-on-Shannon Water Music Festival takes place from Tuesday 3rd July to Sunday 8th of July. An annual feast of music and drama for all ages and tastes, the festival features the best acts from musical genres spanning jazz, rock, classical, folk, Irish traditional, baroque, opera and more.

Highlights of previous years include acts as diverse as Duke Special, Joe Brown and our Gala Proms with 30-piece orchestra! In addition to music there is theatre and a number of other events, such as percussion and song workshops for children and adults alike, puppet shows, book and poetry-reading sessions, an intercultural event, street performers, food and craft markets... in short, something for everybody!

Tickets range in price from €5 - €30.

Why do we need your pledge?

The festival is volunteer run and we have enjoyed immense support over the last 7 years, however this year is proving even more challenging, and a looming shortfall means we need your help! The festival is much loved and we want to sustain the same calibre of artists and venues and to make this year’s festival the best yet.

The good news is that a generous sponsor has offered us a challenge that for every euro we raise on Fund it, they will match, up to €10,000. So every €10 pledged will be worth €20 to the festival maximizing your pledge!
Together with tourism providers within the community and a helping hand from some local talent we have put together a range of reward packages for you to enjoy that we hope will make your festival experience that little bit more special!

Where does it take place?

Only two hours from Dublin, Galway and Belfast, Carrick-on-Shannon is one of the country’s most popular inland resorts and the cruising capital of the Shannon. Renowned for its friendly people, attractive streetscapes with traditional shop fronts and bustling marinas, visitors are assured of a warm welcome and an enjoyable stay in this picturesque town.

The festival in the past has used an elegant starlit Marquee along with unique local venues such as The Dock Arts Centre, The Market Yard, St. George’s Church and the well-known Moon River Pleasure Cruiser for its events. Professional sound and lighting production ensures quality for all our valued customers and of course a fully stocked bar for that mid concert glass of wine! And there is no better venue to soak up the atmosphere than the town itself where free fringe events, markets and street entertainers pop up along the river.

What 2012 will deliver is up to YOU (the crowd!) but whether it is opera, jazz, folk, traditional music, or otherwise, you can be guaranteed that your musical appetite will be well and truly whetted!

Many thanks in advance for all your help... and remember every €10 pledged will be worth €20 to the festival!
