Chequerboard : The Unfolding

By Chequerboard

description

Hello there, John Lambert here or Chequerboard  to use my musical name.
I'm a bearded guitarist and visual artist from Dublin with a love of all things experimental and surreal.  So far I've released two albums and an EP as Chequerboard, and have played extensive live gigs all over the country including a regular slot at the Electric picnic.   I've performed on programs such as 'The View' and 'Other Voices' and in 2008 received a six month music fellowship residency in The Model, Sligo where I recorded my last offering 'Penny Black' which received a 5 star review in the Irish Times.

I've since spent the last three years writing my next album 'The Unfolding' which is now ready to record which is why I'm stepping up on this soapbox, ghetto blaster over head and pressing play on 'Help' by the Beatles with the volume up to 10. That's right, I need your help.

The plan from the beginning for this album was to get the perfect people on board to help lift the production values and broaden out the vision, so with this in mind I sent some demos around and have since secured interest from world class producer Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, Cocteau Twins, M83) who wants to mix the album. The brilliant Stephen Shannon of 'Halfset & Strands' is also be onboard in a co-production / engineer capacity. Other contributing musicians include Irene Buckley (string arrangements) and Kevin Murphy (cello).

The album will be recorded in Experimental Audio Studio, Crumlin in January 2012, it will be mixed in February and printed in March, meaning that it should be ready to be launched no later than April / May which is when you will receive your rewards. The budget raised from the campaign will pay for studio time, mixing and mastering of the music, production of CDs & vinyls and printing of archival prints.  I will also be making a series of montages during the campaign and offering them as rewards so if you are familiar and interested in my art works here is a nice opportunity to pick one up at a knock down price.

Thank you in advance for your support because your advance is just that, in the truest sense of the word, support.
