'Compostela' is new play written and performed by Miriam Needham and directed by Donal O'Kelly. It will debut in Sligo and Dublin this September.
The play follows Dawn as she walks the Camino de Santiago, a few weeks after the Repeal referendum. What could be better after a gruelling couple of months of canvassing, than a nice long walk in the countryside? A walk all the way to Finisterre, to the 'end of the earth' ... except that the end of the earth seems to be coming towards her, and at rapid pace. This play is for anyone who has ever had to ask for their rights, and do so politely.
Compostela is a darkly funny solo show using physical theatre storytelling and magical realism to explore burnout, rage, and disconnection.
If we are successful in reaching our target, the money raised will be used for:
- Promotion and publicity
- Set design
- Sound and lighting
- Fund It Commission
