The Story!
Ciaran's latest script is the story of two misfit young boys from Dublin's North side, briefly brought into each other's lives under unfortunate circumstances, with dire consequences.
Our story follows the curious and naive Jason (12) along with his rebellious cousin Leon (14) who are thrust together awkwardly after having never met, but soon become bonded like brothers. Leon's continuous taunting of Jason for being 'just a child' eventually emboldens Jason to prove himself by breaking into an elderly lady's home - landing them both in police custody - and putting the strength of their bond to the test.
Who We Are!
Our project - COUSINS - is a drama short written by Ciaran Behan (30), a final year student from Dublin studying Film & Broadcasting at the Dublin Institute of Technolgy. This is the 4th time Ciaran's work has been selected for production in college.
At his right side is the Producer, Nicholas Marnitz (26) from South Africa, also a final year film student.
Our production crew - The Scorsese 15 - are all seasoned, battle-hardened guerrilla filmmakers from Dublin, who are very passionate and committed to delivering a high quality film project with their sights set on Irish and European Film Festivals. (And have collectively shot every inch of Dublin in the last 4 years)
Why we need your help!
As full time students, there is a financial divide between the level of film we wish to achieve and the tools we require to achieve it. Although we have access to some of the film equipment, there is so much more needed to bridge the gap between ordinary and masterful. The expenses we are bound to incur include:
• Catering & Travel Expenses for the Cast
• Location rentals
• Hair/Makeup/Costume/Art Design and Production
• Equipment Rental
• Film Festival Fees
This entire project is going to cost us €2000, but we are very hopeful that through generous and brave crowdfunding contributions, we can recuperate some of those expenses.
Principle photography is to take place between 16th - 22nd March 2016, around Dublin and Fingal.
All Funders will get a special online preview link to the film once it is completed on May 1st, 2016.
