Hear Me Sing Your Song & With Raised Arms

This is Liv O'Donoghue's first full evening production and the creation of two new works is an ambitious step. Bringing together dance, music and visual design, this double bill will create two distinctive worlds, conjuring thoughts and feelings about who we are and what impacts the choices we make have on ourselves and those around us.
HEAR ME SING YOUR SONG
Liv O’Donoghue is Irish. But she’s also Norwegian. Or maybe she’s from somewhere in between? Somewhere remote, where only surrealism and dark humour ward off the bleak cold. Here, two dancers, a drummer, a fiddle player and a stranger find themselves, unsure of how they got there or where they’re going to. Hear Me Sing Your Song threads together fragments of a family history, uncovering a past to shed light on the present.
Hear Me Sing Your Song has been in development since late 2012 and features dancers Maria Nilsson Waller and Clare Brzezicki and musicians Bryan O'Connell and Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh. A final development period will take place at DanceHouse during Dublin Dance Festival.
WITH RAISED ARMS
With Raised Arms seeks to reveal an everywoman of contemporary Ireland in a work which considers the strange rationale of politics in the status quo. Through the cynicism of inaction and non-choice, questions of the artist (or woman) as commodity arise.
With Raised Arms premiered at the Firkin Crane, Cork in January 2014. A duet for Liv and Bryan O'Connell, it features original composition and sound design by Tom Lane.

DESIGN
Set and Lighting Design will serve as strong elements in these new works. Both pieces exist in curious environments, with the choreography and design uniquely integrated. Award-winning Lighting Designer Sarah Jane Shiels, will create bold original designs, contributing hugely to creating the distinctive atmospheres of these exciting new works.
WHY FUND US?
We have a very DIY approach to how we put a show together, but even with the strongest DIY skills and 'make do and mend' attitude, we still have to pay for a few things! To make this production come to life on stage we need to fill a small gap in our budget to cover technical staff costs, costumes, set and lighting equipment.
We hope that you can help us to bridge this gap and bring these two works to life side by side at Project Arts Centre.
