Collaborative Fashion Photo-shoot

By Natasha Nosenko

Hello! My name is Natasha Nosenko. Originally from Latvia, I have lived in Ireland for nine years. I found inspiration here to establish a business in fashion and crafts. I have an extended background in visual arts, having grown up in an artistic family. Fashion was always one of my biggest interests.

A few years ago I discovered a felting technique and started it as a hobby. As I got so much positive feedback about the unique design, use of colour and soft felt quality, this hobby quickly transformed into my business — Heartfelt Fashion (www.heartfeltfashion.ie). This year my business achieved a level of professional recognition when I was selected as a finalist for the Fashion Innovation Award in the 'Accessory Designer of the Year' category.

Most of my designs are inspired by fashion heritage and all are handcrafted in Ireland. Developing the range of my ruffled neck-pieces, I wanted to transfer the feeling of femininity inspired by the Romantic and Victorian period into fashionable modern accessories. My designs are named for female literary characters like 'Jane' — Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, 'Emma' - Emma Woodhouse by Jane Austin, etc.

The Project:
To showcase my Autumn/Winter 2013 collection at the RDS National Craft Fair I need to create editorial fashion images. Together with professional photographer and graphic designer Benjamin Castillo we developed a concept for the photo-shoot. This will be a collaborative project and Benjamin will be donating his time doing photography and postproduction.

Our concept of the photo-shoot is a story about a character behind each design with connection to Irish heritage. We aim to produce artistic images that will portray my style and objects showing the timeless beauty of a feminine inner character. We will be mixing styles of hair, make-up and outfits to create a timeless atmosphere. We have arranged to use an 18th century Georgian house (Castle Daly Manor, Co.Westmeath) with period character and charm.

How your money will be used?
At this stage we need to raise money to pay to a team of professionals who will be involved in production. These are 2 models, a make-up artist, a hair stylist, and a wardrobe stylist.

Why fund it?
10% of all sales at Dublin National Christmas Craft Fair in the RDS will go to TIGLIN Challenge charity organisation (www.tiglin.ie), helping people overcome alcohol and drug addiction with a clean start at life.

This photo project will be a collaborative work of artists and will promote modern Irish fashion with a strong reference to Irish heritage and fashion history.

The photographs will be used to promote Heartfelt Fashion presence at the Craft Fair in the national newspapers and social media.

Please, spread the word!

Many Thanks,

Natasha, Benjamin
