Exit: pursued by a bear, Album 2.

By EO'Sullivan

description

EPBAB, comprises of Tadhg Hickey (Spirit of Poznan Bear), Brian Lane (Christopher Columbus Bear), Paul O Driscoll (Berlin's unreal Bear) and Eoin O Sullivan (Train to Krakow Bear). We have been musically touching ourselves and our fans since 2004, assisted no end by Phil Lambert on percussion (please come back all is forgiven Bear). With an output of 2 EPs, a handful of singles and one album, you might say our working pace is more befitting a tortoise than a bear. With the help of you and fundit we can transform this resilient tortoise into a roaring bear. I know we might normally say all sorts of mean things about you but we won't this time because we desperately need your cash!

Exit: pursued by a bear's first album was unreal. All of our mams have gone on record saying this. And they weren't completely alone in their praise...

RTE RADIO 1 ARENA - ****4 Stars “A Benchmark for the year.”

Sunday Business Post-****4 Stars "..their sound is distinctly grand and lush and in Tadhg Hickey they have a velvet voiced theatrical singer who knows how to deliver a witty lyric. It's early days but EPBAB have set a high standard for Irish albums in 2011.

Daily Star - ****4 Stars “Superb.”

RTE 2FM DAN HEGARTY "Brilliant.....Really strong (self-titled) debut album from EPBAB. Ten tracks on it, and not a bad one in there."

TODAY FM, PAUL MCLOONE "One of my new favourite things in the world!"

CORK EVENING ECHO - ****4 Stars

Bear banter aside, we are very proud of our first record. Radio sessions and regular spins from every major station in the country (Today FM, 2FM, RTE Radio1, Newstalk, Phantom etc.), and the critical responses mentioned above are pleasing for an entirely self-funded venture. We have spent the last few months recording new ideas and developing a new, more stripped back sound. The result is 12 demos that we feel constitute our best work yet. We are excited and confident that we have the bones of a great album but we need your help to make it happen.

The cost of producing and promoting the first album was well in excess of €5000 which nearly made bankrupt bears out of us! We don't have the resources to repeat the trick and so without the help of generous funders, we will be unable to turn these demos into the high quality productions that would make up our second album. We believe this would be a real shame. The more upbeat feel to the new tunes is, in a way, a thank you to our old fans for sticking with us, as well as a welcome to potential new fans!

The €5000 would go towards professional studio time, mixing/mastering and promotion and packaging. We feel album one achieved as much as it possibly could with no external funding. With the help ofFund it and your generous contributions we believe we can do something really special with album two.
