Fé Gheasa/Spellbound the album, is to transform the written word into a recording accompanied by music. To get to perform the poems in spoken word form with all the energy and music of the recitations themselves, is what I do best. The creative combination of new poetry, two outstanding musicians and an expert producer give the original words a new life and a fluid format. The album sound is one of very high quality and text and tone come together to resonate in a unique way. We are well into this whole recording process now and will be polishing the sound to ensure a balance of words and music. The project is alive and ongoing until Fé Gheasa: Spellbound the album, is packaged and ready to present this entertaining mix of great music and great poems in Irish and English.
Steve Cooney and Rónán Ó Snodaigh are two of the most well known and widely admired musicians/composers in Ireland and it is a gift to work with them. Steve Cooney's guitar mastery is renound and Rónán Ó Snodaigh both as an individual musician and lead member of Irish band Kila adds a great depth of variety to the overall sound. Fé Gheasa : Spellbound is my ninth bilingual collection of poetry and this album is the culmination of years of collaboration with musicians who enhance the experience of hearing poetry and letting the music within it shine.
Having secured part funding from Ealaín na Gaeltachta to start off the project I have exhausted those funds in phase one studio time and fees. I now need to complete studio time and mixing costs, art and design, packaging, duplication, marketing & publicity costs. Opening this project to the crowdfunding community has allowed us to better include and engage with the Fé Gheasa following on a more personal level as well as bringing those as passionate as us about the work on the journey with us.
My sincere and heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who chose to support the making of this album which is aimed for launch in Autumn 2018. The pleasure I took in every moment of the process was real, from writing the material to hearing it professionally engineered on CD is down to you.
