Céard é Traidphicnic? / What is Traidphicnic?
Coincheap a saolaíodh i bhfoirm shmaoinimh timpeall ar stiúideo Cuan sa Spidéal thar cúpla tiúin ag Bridget Barker, Marianne Ní Chinnéide, Andrea Rossi, Rosaleen Ní Shúilleabhán, Pádraig Ó Dubhghaill agus a gcuid cairde. Is ón mbunsmaoineamh sin a d’fhas an ócáid cheiliúrtha Traidphicnic, féile a mhairfidh thar thréimhse dhá lá (6 & 7 Iúil 2012), le linn an Rás Aigéin Volvo, ag ceiliúradh, ní amháin ceol thraidisiúnta na hÉireann atá aitheanta ar bhonn domhanda, ach is ceiliúradh atá san fhéile seo ar ár dtraidisiúin agus ar ár ndeasghnátha shainiúla féin mar chine. Déanfar comóradh agus léiriú ar ár n-ealaíon, ár gceardaíocht, ár mbeatha ealaíonta, seanchas, drámaíocht, siúlóidí, muintearthacht, siamsa agus spraoi. Níl uainn anois ach bhur gcabhair chun na himeachta seo a thabhairt chun críche!
What started as an idea over a few tunes around Studio Cuan in An Spidéal by Bridget Barker, Marianne Ní Chinnéide, Andrea Rossi, Rosaleen Ní Shúilleabhán, Pádraig Ó Dubhghaill and friends is now going to be a two day festival, Traidphicnic (6 & 7 July 2012) celebrating not only the music that makes us Irish famous all over the world but, also our many other talents such as artisan food, craft, art, storytelling, theatre, walking, swimming , chatting, relaxing and enjoying the craic to name but a few. To add to that, all this will be happening while Galway City, down the road, welcomes the Galway Volvo Ocean Race Finale! And now we need your help to make it happen!

Céard a theastaíonn uainn?/What do we need?
It’s really important to us that the events are free or as affordable as possible to attend but we need at least €5,000 more to get this show on the road. There are some things you just can't avoid paying for, such as the costs of quality musicians and performers, not to mention stage creation, renting performance and exhibition spaces, equipment (sound, lights etc.), advertising and marketing and not forgetting decent portaloos! We have already secured some funding through fundraising activities and the County Council but THIS is where YOU come in. We need YOU to pledge money to help us light up the shoreline of An Spidéal with music and merriment!
Go raibh maith agaibh!
