Hello, this is Philip Lawson and Anna Murray from Fractal. Fractal is a contemporary music group we formed this summer, to create new settings and opportunities for contemporary music. We have a love of new Irish music, and of open collaboration between the arts. We have great plans for creating and commissioning new programmes of Irish mixed-media concerts, starting with a nationwide tour of new music for guitar and electronics, performed by Philip.
This tour will feature a mix of recent and specially commissioned works by Irish composers, including Anna and a few very special guests which will be revealed over the coming weeks! In addition to guitar and electronics, the concerts will also feature visuals, with each concert featuring a new artist, and a new realisation of the music.
There are four dates in this tour
October- (the last week of October, date tbc) The Back Loft, St. Augustine Street, Dublin
November 9th- The Centre for Creative Practices, Pembroke Street, Dublin
January 14th- Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar
February (date tbc)- Cork (currently finalising the venue)
In addition to our four tour dates, we will be giving a concert as part of Culture Night! We will be previewing some of the pieces, and performing some more new Irish music alongside some audio-visual work on Friday, 21st September at the Centre for Creative Practices, Pembroke Street, at 8pm.
The money we raise will go towards all the expenses involved in putting on a series of concerts such as this, from venue costs to scores to promotion. This would allow us to ensure any profits go directly to the composers and artists for all their hard work. This is our first event as Fractal, and we are entirely unfunded, so your help is essential for bringing a new and exciting voice to new Irish music. There is a range of rewards for your generosity which we hope will entice you to help make our debut tour a reality.
Thanks, and stay tuned to find out who our special guest composers and artists are!
