FREE Shakespeare in the Iveagh Gardens

By Fortune's Fool Productions

Last year, during one of the hottest weeks of 2012, Fortune’s Fool Productions decided to put on a little play called The Tempest. It seemed that this decision sent Mother Nature into a tailspin because no sooner had we started rehearsals, then the monsoons of 2012 began.

This year, during the longest, coldest winter - that should be Spring, we’ve decided to put on a little play call A Midsummer Night’s Dream. If last year is any indication, we can bring summer back to Dublin with Shakespeare’s most popular comedy.

You can help bring summer back to Dublin by supporting FREE Shakespeare in the Iveagh Gardens, running August 8 through 18, 2013. If we meet our funding goals, Mother Nature will forgive us entirely and we might have the driest, warmest summer in decades.

Last year’s production of the The Tempest performed to record crowds of more than 6,000 people over 9 performances. And despite the rain, we had the time of our lives and gave audiences an experience to remember.

“A magic show, well done to all involved!” Rory Mo-ran

“A truly excellent production. Incredibly witty, imaginative and heartfelt. Congratulations to all involved.” Rebecca Dore

“Saw the play yesterday. It was brilliant, loved everything about it but especially the acting, costumes and location. Well done. Hope there is more to come!” Bea Kempf

“I saw this with delight on Tuesday and was blown away. Visually spectacular, creative and very well directed! Well done to the Actors too. Well done to them all who put in a lot of hard work which certainly paid off.” Eimear Keating

Just take a look at the crowds and the cast pictures of The Tempest on our website at FortunesFoolProductions.ie.

Be a hero and pledge your support. Become part of the team bring summer back to Dublin. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is Shakespeare’s best comedy. With crazy Lovers chasing each other through the forest, fairies and goblins creating magic and mayhem, and a randy band of unfortunate Mechanicals trying to put on a show. This play has something for everyone and will be a must see event in Dublin this August.

With a cast of more than 20 professional actors, all hired locally from Dublin, and with performances free to the public, this is truly an event for the community.

Our audiences come from all over Ireland to see our productions. Including two pensioners who traveled from Donegal to see The Tempest last year. They thoroughly enjoyed the production and were so thrilled to see it for free.

Your pledges and support will help fund our €15,000 production budget, including the cost of our set, costumes and props.

Make a pledge. Join our Facebook Event – Bring Summer Back To Dublin – and help us get the word out. Let’s put a little sunshine back in all our lives.

We are very grateful to Her.ie for supporting us with a great shout out to help our funding on their website. This might give us a second life. If we make our goal in time, we will go on with the show. Every little bit helps so please pledge what you can. We are thankful for every Euro pledged.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

It is with heavy hearts and huge regret that we must inform you that Fortune’s Fool Productions will not be able to Fund this campaign and we will not be able to produce the show this year. We are forever grateful to each of you for your faith and support in our project, but unforeseen circumstances impeded our ability to raise the money for the show. Your pledges will not be charged to your credit cards, since we won’t reach our funding goal. But I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to consider funding any of the other projects on FundIt with a pledge like the one you made to Fortune’s Fool Productions. Obviously, we know how difficult it is to raise money and how rare people like you are, who are willing to give their hard earned money to shows like ours. If you love Shakespeare, please consider pledging to AC Productions. They’re production of Twelfth Night is well worth your support and we have a soft spot for them because they love the Bard as much as we do. They have 8 days left on their campaign. We thank you again for your support and we are very sorry for the disappointing news.
