Gender: New science, New conversations.

By Rachel Moore

description

We are excited to be putting on an informative and thought provoking exhibition about gender at the Fumbally Exchange Pop-up Exhibition Space, 5 Dame Lane, Dublin 2, from Thursday 27th through Saturday 29th August 2015. A stimulating wine reception will kick start the exhibition on opening night, Thursday 27th August, at 7.00 p.m.

We want to get our visitors thinking and talking about the gender revolution, to question the gender status quo, and to realise how liberating the gender revolution will be! New and exciting conversations about gender are happening all over the world, in academic, scientific, feminist, artistic and LGBT circles. It's time for everyone to get on board!

Express YOUR Gender is a Social Enterprise set up my me, Rachel Moore, a Speech & Language Therapist working with the transgender community. I provide professional and empowering voice and communication therapy and career development services to trans clients. My vision is a world where all people can participate fully in social and economic life, regardless of gender identity or gender expression.

But what is gender? My professional journey has led me to delve into the subject of gender and discover this exciting paradigm shift which has been building for decades and is now going mainstream. One of the goals of Express YOUR Gender, or xYg, is to create opportunities for the wider public to become part of the gender revolution, to be comfortable with the ever-changing language of gender, and to understand and celebrate gender diversity.

This experimental exhibition will present new thinking, new science and new language in relation to gender, through multi-media exhibits and thought provoking workshops.

On Thursday 27th August, from 5.00-7.00 p.m., and again on Friday 28th August, from 12.00-2.00 p.m., well known gender and sexuality educator, activist and researcher Dr. Leslie Sherlock, will run her "Genital Diversity" workshops, where she will educate participants on genital anatomy and genital diversity, through the eco-friendly, accessible material that is fruit! This is a wonderful opportunity to work with one of Ireland's most cutting edge gender and sexuality educators, not to be missed!!

Express YOUR Gender is a start-up social enterprise. The goal is to raise a minimum of €1,000 to fund the exhibition and launch xYg. Any extra funds raised will go towards providing affordable Voice Therapy Groups and Career Development Programmes for trans folk.

Choose from one of the funding options provided, starting at €10.00 for a groovey xYg cotton tote bag.
