ESC zine began in 2010 & we're just about to release the third issue. We're still learning all the time about what it is we're actually dealing with here. To begin from nothing and to walk in blindly: these are the strictest forms of knowledge.
We're about free art for everyone everywhere. We're about transgressive fiction. We're about collaborative work that crosses disciplines & genres. We're about visual art, about illustration, about being able to escape off into somewhere new and exciting whenever things are getting you down.
We set up this fundit account to raise money for ESC to have a table at the PhotoIreland 2012 Festival. There's a Book & Magazine Fair, which is what we're looking to represent at.
This is from the PhotoIreland website as they can describe it more succinctly than we ever could:
"Celebrating its 3rd edition in 2012, PhotoIreland Festival will explore the theme 'Migrations: Diaspora & Cultural Identity', showcasing some of the finest national and international contemporary photography in and around Dublin city from 1–31 July, highlighting the importance of Photography & Image Culture in Ireland.
Join us in a month long celebration during Ireland's innovative and unique Photography festival, meeting artists, publishers, while taking the opportunity to network with industry professionals. Enjoy the exhibitions and events, the Book & Magazine Fair with a special focus on the latest international publications, and our Summer Campus with portfolio reviews, workshops, talks and more."
How amazing is that? It would be brilliant exposure for us - both for the publication itself but also being in that environment and meeting so many people with different views on art & migration & diaspora - fresh ideas & a vast array of stimuli = better ESC = better art for Ireland.
Thank you so much for helping us to make this happen!
