I'v been a solo musician for about a year now. Over this period of time I'v released my debut solo album (in 2012). The process was exciting and rewarding. During the recording I grew as a musician as I overdubbed the majority of the instruments ranging from guitars to bass to drums, even as far as glass harmonics!
The album was launched 1/12/12 to a sold out Whelans crowd. For the gig I assembled a session band consisting of Ross O'Farrell on bass, Jack Sherry on flute/violin and Richie Kennedy on drums. We played a very strong set, exerting our musicality. I enjoyed it all immensely.
A few days after the launch I decided that I wished to document the band, as I was uncertain of when, if ever, we'd play again as a group due to each member having their own projects and musical commitments. Just before Christmas we booked an evening in The Temple Lane Studio. On the night we recorded 6 live songs (as opposed to click track recordings). As I had with the launch set, I left freedom of interpretation to the session band. I wanted them to express themselves and bring new horizons to my existing tracks. This led to a very relaxed, yet creative atmosphere. The tracks, for me, prospered as a result. The tracks have an organic feel due to them being live takes. This contrasted to my solo album when I had overdubbed almost everything myself. I embraced this new approach as I believe every recording project is an opportunity to push yourself and attempt new sounds and methods.
These new recordings will be on my new 7 track EP (set for release 1/6/13). I am very much looking forward to sharing these new recordings with you. The mixing stage is complete, however, I am struggling financially to see the project through. I'm looking for support in covering the mastering of the 7 track EP and the booking of the launch venue for the 1st June '13. In return, I am offering a number of rewards that you can avail of. All support is massively appreciated. By funding you become a part of the process and help make this project a reality! Thanks for taking the time to read this!!
