Guns and Roses

By Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh

Welcome to Richville, a town in the Wild West thrown into crisis by the shooting dead of Sherriff Douglas and Deputy Hueston. Who will Governor Wallis appoint as the new Sherriff? Who will the Sherriff appoint as Deputy? Will the new law officers succeed in cleaning up the town? What will become of the local Indian tribe? Why is Governor Wallis so interested in Richville? What secrets does the town hide?

Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh is a co-ed secondary school based in Limerick City Centre and is one of the few schools in Ireland who offer Speech and Drama on the Transition Year Curriculum. Last year's original production 'The Snapchat Diaries' was a roaring success with two sold out performances and two standing ovations in LIT Millennium Theatre. In fact so successful was the show that the school was inundated with calls from the general public inquiring about more performances. Further performances under the banner of Limerick City of Culture were even requested!

Many of our students taste drama for the first time in Transition Year and former thespians have gone on to thread the boards in many of Limerick City's major productions. These include 'The Coleen Bawn Trials' in Shannon Rowing Club (Laura Carey & James Lillis now in 6th year) and 'Aladdin' in UL Concert Hall (David Sheehan now in 5th year). Another 5th year student, Sinéad Toomey is currently a rising star on the music scene with support performances alongside Dave Geraghty of Bell XI, among others.

With 86 teenagers and three amazing teachers: Catherine Daly, James Blackwell and Ógie Ó Céilleachair we hope to put on "one hell of a show y'all". To bring the Wild West to the Mid-West we need your support. Since June 2014 we have been hard at work planning, drafting, organising, meeting and re-drafting in order to create an original production that will be of a high standard.
