IMOCA Soundtrack 2011

By IMOCA

description

This is a compilation album of tracks donated by amazing Irish musicians and bands on a brand new product called PLAYbutton, which is a badge-like MP3 player that you can wear to show your support for IMOCA.

Museums are often perceived as stuffy, old dusty places, hosting orchestras playing classical music as stuffed shirts walk around in penguin suits; just as unfairly, Irish music is often only represented by guitar-playing folk acts. Not that there's anything wrong with either of those, but this compilation and project will definitely explode those stereotypes! You'll be listening to yet-unreleased tracks by The Republic of Loose, The River Fane, The Black Triangle, Flinders, and Jessica Galvin, and tracks from Not Squares, BATS, Paul Clancy and Adebisi Shank! Packaging will include a link to a special webpage where you can read more about the artists, see footage, hear more music and link to related websites.

We will also be hosting several launch parties at our own premise and The Grand Social upon the successful funding of this project!

Founded in 2007, The Irish Museum of Contemporary Art [IMOCA] is an artist-led initiative dedicated to advancing education about, awareness and appreciation of, and participation in contemporary art. This is actualized through ongoing acquisition and addition of work to our modest but growing collection; a focus on presenting international art practices and artists to the Irish community; developing opportunities to exhibit Irish-based artists abroad; the support and recognition of emergent artists and art practices, and support of related organizations and relevant events and activities.

2012 will mark our 5-year anniversary; this project will not only help us fund the exciting exhibitions we have planned to help celebrate, but also the introduction of a €5,000 IMOCA Artist Prize that we will award to mark our anniversary!
