Casual Friday is a band comprised of five students of BIMM Dublin. Influences include Oasis, The Stone Roses, The Smiths, The Lemonheads, U2, and Bruce Springsteen. We have jammed together for the guts of 3 years in college and such and are finally taking the steps to getting the band out gigging and recording.
The comparison we have received the most about our music is The Lemonheads. It's guitar-driven early 90s Indie Rock/Pop. We try to crack
that Holy Grail of writing universal songs with a deeper connection and subject matter than surface pop.
Pledges received will go towards the recording, mixing, and mastering of a five-track debut EP that the band will record in Portlaoise before the end of the year, to be released in April of 2015.
€800 is the absolute minimum we need for this project. That limits us to 100 physical copies of the EP. We would love to get to €1000 or beyond where we would be able to purchase a minimum of 250 physical copies of the EP. Any pledges will be used solely on the recording and production of the EP.
€500 of the total cost will be spent on the recording, mixing, and mastering of the EP itself. A minimum of €300 will be spent on duplication which is the process of receiving the physical copies of the EP at the end.
For 3 of us in the band, this EP and corresponding launch gig will be our professional project in college which is a double-weighted module and holds the majority of our credits. It's like our musical thesis. It combined with an 8,000 word write up on the entire process will go a long way to deciding the level of degree we receive next May.
