Welcome to our Fund it campaign! Please enjoy the video and considering the rewards offered below. It has been quite a year for our company, November 2011 saw theatres throughout Ireland packed to overflowing for The Nutcracker by the Monica Loughman Ballet Company. Two stars of the Bolshoi theatre performed principle roles and were described by the Irish Times as exemplifying “athleticism, artistry, the ability to transcend the everyday with even the slightest magical spark”. The event drew support from our President Michael D. Higgins who attended the production of Giselle in April 2011, which also received a standing ovation from a full house.
If you do not know much about Monica Loughman or ballet in Ireland don't worry. At the age of 14, Monica went to Russia to train. She became the first ever foreign dancer to be hired by a Russian company at age 16 and a few years later was made a Prima ballerina – the highest honor in ballet. She believes that her company is something that every talented young dancer can aspire to be part of. The company will kick off its 2012 season by performing the oldest surviving romantic ballet, La Sylphide which will be performed in Ireland’s premier venue for ballet – the spectacular 2000 seat auditorium at The Convention Centre in Dublin's Docklands.
Monica Loughman Ballet now has 70 dancers. In 2011, Monica established The Bridge Program, with the aim of helping young dancers at ballet schools throughout Ireland to understand what is needed to transiation from learning at ballet school to performing on stage with a world class company. It has been immensely successful and over a dozen schools are now part of the program with students performing with the company.
The funds raised here will help with marketing and preparations for the production. Also, for every supporter that participates we are going to give a young dancer from an Irish ballet school a free ticket to the event. This will ensure that as many of Ireland's talented young dancers as possible will see the company and Russian legends increasing inspiration and aspiration as the Bridge Program continues to grow.
We have designed an extraordinary range of benefits to, hopefully, make this too good an opportunity to pass on. Your participation will help us with our overarching goal which is to advance classical ballet in Ireland. Please enjoy considering the wide range of offers and spread the word among your friends!
Thank you!
