We are hoping to get support for this project 'Just-in-Time' that wil happen this May in conjunction with MART, an artist-led initiative(www.mart.ie) and The LAB. The participating artists are Adam Gibney, Gerard Erraught and Richard Forrest, curated by myself, Aoife Flynn. We will be taking over a vacant retail unit on James Joyce St. for the month of May to create and show new work. We currently are not funded so we are looking for support to cover rental of the space which is €200 for the month. With the remainder we hope to produce a full colour publication called 'Just-in-Time' that will include writing and images by the curator and artists, along with other rewards.
Just-in-Time
This project gathers together three artists whose work is centred around the use of technology, its possibilities and problems. Turning their enquiries towards outdated, obsolete technologies they will endeavor to create something new and potentially useful out of that which is doomed to become waste. Through this process we will seek to question our society’s perpetual consumption and propose alternatives uses for the spiraling series of technological advances in our contemporary existence.
