LEAFZANG is a soulful and energetic acoustic sextet that has performed with increasing regularity in Dublin since 2010, we are an unusual group in that we mix Irish traditional folk music, jazz and world music (Brazil/Africa). Performance highlights include opening at the Dublin City Soul festival in 2013 and at DownWithJazz in 2012.
We will record in Hellfire studios in Dublin for three days, mix the tracks ourselves, then send them to Munich to mastering engineer Thomas Schmidt. He will then send them back nicely polished and ready for Ergodos record company to print inside one of their lovely covers - www.ergodos.ie
We are classical, jazz and traditional musicians combined, and we've worked hard since 2011 to make a new group sound never heard before, one that captures the enthusiasm we have for this band. Each Leafzang member is an in-demand musician - individually we have recorded extensively, performed at festivals around the world and with artists such as Amy Winehouse, Sinead O'Connor, David Kitt, Martin Hayes, Riverdance and Republic of Loose and more - but we believe in music that speaks of now, who we are and of the place that we live, and so Leafzang continues to represent. We believe in honest music that allows us to improvise and be playful whilst tapping into something deeper than the sum of us combined.
Since what we do is on the fringes we need your support to record our first professional album - you can hear what we did back in 2011 here.
The band has changed a lot since then, now we go for a more folky, 'alt-trad' sound led by Clara on voice and fiddle which you can hear here.
In this last year we have had great responses to the warmth and colour of our live shows, and our audience has been steadily building. We have a full CD of music ready to go and we want you, the past and future audience, to help us fund our first professional-quality album by prepaying for something that we hope you would want to buy. Thanks so much for your love & support! X
