There have been countless times I've stood in card shops looking tirelessly at potential greeting cards for gay friends and family, often having to settle on a mundane neutral message. It wasn't until a couple of years ago when my housemate pulled a shiny lesbian Valentine's Day card out of her bag that I realised LGBT orientated cards even existed. Eager to view this seemingly hidden collection of cards, I headed straight to the card shop. Sure enough, I found a small collection of LGBT greeting cards (albeit in a tiny corner at the back of the shop). I was in awe of their mere existence. But like many shops, the card store succumbed to crippling debts and eventually shut down, leaving me wondering where to buy my next card.
To the internet I went. I was amazed to find such a large selection available from online stores and personal sellers alike. Unfortunately, none of them really did it for me. The designs were seldom missing a gender symbol and never complete without a rainbow. I am as proud as they come, but I just wanted something different. I searched and searched but I did not find what I was looking for. So I decided to make my own, and Scene Designs was created.
I have several designs and ideas all just waiting to hit the printers. I work full time so the cards are designed and created in my own time. It also means that any funding so far has come from me, if and when I have it. Securing an initial stock of the cards will in turn generate revenue to pump back into the business for growth and expansion. Part of this growth would include marketing to the LGBT community in Ireland and eventually worldwide. There are several LGBT establishments in Ireland which pose as possible outlets for selling the cards. The dream would be to get the cards selling in regular card shops so that they are included as part of a standard collection in the Irish market. To do this, I need your help!
I would like to raise €800 to kick start production and get these cards out and available to members and friends of the LGBT community. The cards will in turn be the rewards for funding the project.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my project, and thank you in advance for any donation made!

Thank you so much to all of you who have pledged so far. It hasn't been easy and there's not long to go now, so I am working really hard to drive the last 70%! Hopefully we'll make this happen and get funny and modern LGBT cards available in Ireland.
Thanks again and keep sharing!
