Lifford Old Courthouse Arts Programme

By Lifford Old Courthouse

description

For the last two years Lifford Old Courthouse has been working behind the scenes to develop itself into an arts hub for Lifford and the east Donegal region.

This work has coincided with a major redevelopment project designed to improve accessibility to the historic building, which will also see the creation of new performance and exhibition spaces.

With this work due to be completed by September 2018, we are currently working to develop a full Arts and Culture programme for 2019.

In consultation with a number of prominent individuals within the Irish arts community we have made contact with artists from fields including music, drama and visual art to develop a sample programme that can only be brought to fruition with the support and financial help of the local community.  This is something that we are extremely passionate about and we want to welcome you onto this project with us.

The money raised will be spent on booking artists to perform or exhibit at Lifford Old Courthouse in 2019. Numerous high profile artists have already been approached and fees negotiated and these are included in our budget.

We plan to launch the programme with a free performance on  Friday 21st September for Culture Night, featuring the legendary Charlie McGettigan performing in our grand courtroom.

Lifford Old Courthouse has been operated by LATCH Clg, a voluntary group, for over 20 years. In those 20+ years we have turned the once derelict building into a thriving visitor centre, with a busy onsite restaurant, attracting thousands of tourists to the area each year.

We are a forward thinking team, eager to see this historic building being used to its full potential, and over the last two years have been working to develop this arts and culture programme for the local area and beyond.

We have been planning this programme for two years. We have a strong track record of delivering projects and have consulted in depth with many within the arts community who also have a strong track record to ensure that the project is successful.  To see what we already do here at Lifford Old Courthouse you can check out our website http://www.liffordoldcourthouse.com.

We are crowdfunding this project because as a not-for-profit organisation it is unlikely that we will be able to carry out the quality programme we have envisaged and planned without the help of both the local community and the wider arts community.

This is a project that we feel very strongly about and one that we feel with benefit the local community greatly. Thank you for taking the time to read about it, and we look forward to undertaking this journey with you!
