We need your generous support for our new project: IDENTITY.
Identity is a contemporary dance piece which will be created and performed by Laois Youth Dance Ensemble and presented at Laois Dance Platform 2016, in the Dunamaise Arts Centre.
Through research and self-expression, LYDE members will explore, create, perform and have fun! Our intention is to find what is superficial within and investigate our true identity so we can relate it to the way we move. Our goal will also be to look for answers of questions that we will raise throughout this project.
About Laois Youth Dance Ensemble:
Founded in September 2013, by dance artist Erica Borges, Laois Youth Dance Ensemble is a Laois based contemporary dance group that strives for excellence and gives opportunity to young dancers to participate in the creation, production and performance of contemporary dance.
Currently supported by Dunamaise Arts Centre (In kind investment) and Laois Arts Office (small funding since 2014), LYDE welcomes young people (12-19 years old) from diverse social or cultural backgrounds, committed and passionate, twice a year through auditions.
LYDE is the County Laois first youth contemporary dance group. We seek to present opportunities to empower the youth of today by using dance as a vehicle for personal development and achievement. We understand the needs and demands of the local dance community and are responding by offering opportunities of new skills. We also understand that without financial funding it is impossible to develop our dance practise.
