Éala productions in association with Chameleon theatre Cork, presents Marvel at Project Arts Centre Dublin from the 11th of November.
Marvel is a young and beautiful woman with a dark and dysfunctional past, Trafficked from Liberia during the celtic tiger boom at the age of 15 by Gojan a Ukrainian business associate of Dion's. Dion is a hedge fund investor living the dream. Circumstances throw them together against the backdrop of the fiscal meltdown on Sept 29th 2008 tearing their former lives apart.
Aoife Spillane HInks directs a stellar cast which includes Alma Eno in the title role and Conor Irwin as Dion in this phycological drama by Elizabeth Moynihan, where not only the lives of the two characters are examined but our own. Taking us through a year of love and loss, the piece explores themes of greed and morality, neo slavery and power.
Marvel was first commissioned three years ago by the Abbey Theatre to be included in their short play season showcase that year. After that event the feedback led Elizabeth Moynihan to develop the piece to the full length version we are staging at the Project on the 11th of November 2013.
Jonathan Todhunter co-founder of Éala Productions has raised 5000 Euro and we need a further 6,000 to complete the funding. Therefore we are asking all our friends and patrons out there to please log in and consider supporting us. Our target on this site is 3000 Euro and we only have 6 days to do it. We know it's a big ask for people in these belt tightening times and we are grateful that you have to dig deep to help us. Our play dramatises the very events that led to us having to do exactly that and for once through the suspension of disbelief the bad guys get their just desserts. We will use any funding we get from this fundit page to build our set., buy costumes and print our programme including a copy of the play.
Thank you for your support in advance. Without it we couldn't do what we do.
