Calling all music lovers and Mermaid lovers too!

Please help us create a compilation album of music recorded live at Mermaid County Wicklow Arts Centre over the past 10 years. We have an amazing archive of hundreds of recordings that have never before been heard by the public. With enormous difficulty, we have managed to narrow down our selection to a dozen eclectic tracks performed live on Mermaid’s stage by some of the country’s top performers from a wide range of musical backgrounds. Mermaid Live is mixed and ready to be mastered, duplicated, designed and launched but we do need a bit of help…this is where you come in! Please pledge any amount, big or small so that we can reach our goal of €5000 and we’ll show our appreciation by offering you some lovely gifts.

The live music experience is the so often the most special one – and from the the moment you press play, Mermaid Live will recreate for you the magic of being there, giving you a flavour of that unique Mermaid vibe. The recordings capture the kind of synergy that only happens when you get exceptional musicians and appreciative audiences into a room with great acoustics. Mermaid Live will allow us to share our highlights of the past 10 years and showcase some of the finest talent the Irish music scene has to offer.

Musicians include: Tarab and Greek singer Savina Yannatou, Ireland’s godfather of electronic music Roger Doyle, Congolese guitarist Niwel Tsumbu, Cellist Vyvienne Long, Guitarist Redmond O’Toole, Jazz guitarist Mike Nielsen, whistle-player Cormac Breathnach and others….
