Ether Productions is a new performance company founded in January of this year, fuelled with a desire to fuse storytelling, aerial-circus, dance, theatre sound and colour. In our debut project, "Mirror, Mirror" we breath new vibrant life into old tales.
In a pitch dark space, dancing lights reveal strange, wonderful shapes and shadows play as four explorers find their way. In Mirror, Mirror, the old familiar fables find new ways to tell themselves as the victim plays the villain and the princes escapes the prince.
Mirror, Mirror is written and choreographed by Niamh Creely, a co-founder of PaperDolls, whose debut circus show, PaperDolls, sold out every performance at ABSOLUT Fringe 2011 and received a four star review from the Irish Times.
Using dance-ploe, aerial hoop and silks, Niamh will perform with Aisling Ni Cheallaigh, Jonathan Walsh and Drogheda's own National Pole Champion, Arlene Caffrey.
The show's music is created by Jenn Kirby - a composer and performer with Dublin Laptop Orchestra - but also partly by the dancers themselves as customised technologies capture the sound and motion of the dancers and feed them back into the show's rich soundscape.
Theatre director Conor Hanratty will also be bringing his expertise to the project as Ether writes a new kind of fairytale,as dark and delicious as a poisoned apple.
Everyone dreams of flying and the special lure of aerial circus is it lets you do just that. However, it requires special training and, of course, special equipment. Ether has already purchased the aerial hoop and aerial silks necessary for the show but with your help we can procure the new dance poles that will be the final pieces we need to fly.
Funding Ether Productions will allow us to bring together pole, aerial circus and live sound production in a new and exciting way. Come fly with us and see what's up there, in the ether!
