I am urgently in need of some last minute support to help bring a very exciting project to completion.
Having directed and taught actors for very many years, I finally made my own acting debut just before Christmas at The New Theatre with a performance of my one-man play, ‘Morning’. This was presented as part of ‘Bloodties’, an evening of three new one-act plays of mine; the response to both the writing and the performance was extremely enthusiastic.
Here is what Emer O’Kelly of the Sunday Independent said about the writing generally:
‘The first thing to be said about ‘Bloodties’ is that the writing is quite fine, sometimes startlingly so.’
And specifically about the writing and the performance of the one-man ‘Morning’.
''Morning’ is a moving and impressive piece of work... a sobering, intelligent piece of theatre, beautifully performed.'
Now I have been offered the opportunity to provide a full evening’s theatre by performing ‘Morning’ together with ‘Afternoon’, a new play specifically written as an interlocking companion piece to ‘Morning’. The plays will run for two weeks at Project Arts Centre beginning 11th February.
At very short notice we have managed to raise most of the budget to make this exciting project happen but are now just short by 2,000 euro. the funding you provide will go towards theatre venue rental, insurance, set construction, lighting design, rehearsal space, and promotion of the piece.
I would be immeasurably grateful for any contribution, large or small, you might be able to make to help us. And if there is anyone you know you think might be interested in helping us out it would be great if you could forward this message to them.
