Diving is a highly competitive, performative sport that is widely celebrated as a fusion of aqua spots and gymnastics. It requires strength, flexibility and a great deal of self-determination. This documentary seeks to represent the physical beauty of diving alongside the psychological motivations of a set of young divers. The mode of expression will be poetic and performative, as the movement of diving will be represented through vivid and striking images of the young divers while they narrate their experience, motivations and fears as competitive athletes through disembodied voices.

In Ireland, there is a niche community of both competitive and recreational divers. Until last year Dublin boasted two diving clubs but due to financial difficulties the Dublin Diving club has gone into receivership. Shamrock Diving Club is now the only diving club that serves the greater Dublin community. They train in the national aquatic centre in Blanchardstown, Co.Dublin.

This project is being made as part of our graduate showcase for the DIT school of Media. We have a team of six dedicated and enthusiastic individuals. We all are majoring in Documentary Film and share a passion for making arresting and memorable films.

Documentary seeks to represent the world we live in, often bringing new audience to undiscovered parts of life. We, in making this documentary hope to invite a new audience to experience the act of diving, and meet some of the most talent young athletes in Ireland.

The School of Media in DIT is synonymous with cultivating unique and challenging documentaries and films, often winning at prestigious film festivals such as Corona Cork Film Festival and the Galway Film Fleadh. We are very privileged to be emerging from such a talented and well known graduate network.

We need funding for specialized equipment to access the divers as never seen before. Equipment such as underwater camera housing, special effects, telephoto lenses and post facilities.

We are dedicated to creating a documentary that will create a wonderful sense of experience, bringing the audience into the mind and body of a diver.

We appreciated all donations, big and small. In addition to our fundit account will be holding innovated and fun raisers.

Thanks for supporting our Documentary.
