OPEN HOUSE DUBLIN BOOK

By Irish Architecture Foundation

description

WHAT IS OPEN HOUSE DUBLIN?

Open House Dublin is the biggest celebration of architecture in Ireland presented by the Irish Architecture Foundation. Over one weekend in October, buildings of all types and periods open their doors to more than 27,000 citizens and visitors allowing them to explore the architecture of the capital completely for free to the public.

Open House Dublin showcases the wealth and breadth of Irish architecture, from the splendor of Georgian Dublin to the breathtaking contemporary spaces and places created by international names such as Daniel Libeskind and Santiago Calatrava.

THE BOOK

A very significant and sought after aspect of Open House Dublin is the production of the book, designed by award winning studio, Conor and David.

This beautiful souvenir publication, of approximately 100 pages, contains full colour images by well-known architectural photographers and a description of each building in Open House Dublin. It is more than a tool to navigate you around the city; it acts as a guide to quality design in Dublin.

10,000 of these are printed and they are snapped up in days.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

Because the book is a valuable tool and guide to the best quality architecture in Dublin. No other book like it exists. If we don?t reach our target the book will not be produced this year.

Because we want as many people as possible to have access to this book it is offered free of charge and is distributed across Dublin through our information centre, schools and public libraries. However, it is challenging for Open House Dublin to continue to produce the book free of charge, this is why we are asking for your help through FUND: IT.

A HUGE Open House Dublin thank you for your help!

A special note of thanks to the following for their help in making the video: Production: Aideen McCole, Katie Darling, Rachel McAree, Louise Dredge.
Space: South Studios, Irish Architectural Archive
Music: Steve Shannon (Strands)

Did you miss us?

In 2011 you helped create something amazing that reached a huge amount of people. We have never forgotten the overwhelming amount of support you gave us, and we want to get back in contact with you, the people who really believe in us. The IAF has come a long way since 2011, and since we're going through a bit of a transitional stage, we thought this would be a great time to give you an update. Open House Dublin has grown bigger and better, with 27,000 visits and 100 buildings in 2013. Our award-winning education programme has now reached over 3000 young people. In January we finished a three-month long residency at IMMA that accompanied the Eileen Grey exhibition. We also have a great new talks programme called New Now Next, with world-renowned Irish and international architects. Basically, we've been pretty busy! Another big change has been our new membership scheme. Similar in style to the Fund It campaign, you can get loads of goodies, such as a newly designed tote bag (your blue one may be a bit worn by now!), discounts, priority booking, and a selection of other IAF merchandise. Also our first 50 Passion members get a free dBMGallo DVD, and the first 10 Inspiration members get a free 'Lives of Spaces' book. Click here to check us out: http://www.architecturefoundation.ie/support-us-become-a-member And most importantly, we want to reconnect with you, because three years ago you helped change everything. We know it's been a while, but we thought, better late than never. And we don't just want to show you what we've been up to: we want to know how you've been. Do you still use our tote? Have you flicked through the Open House Dublin book when you want to go somewhere new? Is your Grafton Architects print still on your wall? Let us know on @IAFarchitecture, on our Facebook page, or just email us at fundraising@architecturefoundation.ie. Sending you some #IAFlove, IAF Team

Open House Dublin book wins Best Festival Programme 2011!

At the recent Association of Irish Festival Events (AOIFE) conference, the Open House Dublin book won this year’s Best Festival Programme at the Carlton Marketing Awards! Many thanks to our designers Conor & David, our printers Hudson Killeen, and most of all the 417 people who funded the brochure’s production on Fund It! This October saw the sixth annual Open House Dublin, what we at the IAF consider to be our best one yet! We had approximately 23,000 attendances to 85 buildings and a total of 130 events all over Dublin city and county in one weekend. Thanks to your support, our visitors had the Open House Dublin book in their hands to help plan their weekend and explore the city! Once again, we at the Irish Architecture Foundation wish to thank you all - your support enabled us to fulfill a really important element of Ireland's biggest architecture festival. We'd also like to congratulate you for producing an award-winning piece of design! Remember to keep in touch with us at www.architecturefoundation.ie, www.facebook.com/irisharchitecturefoundation and www.twitter.com/IAFarchitecture Best wishes IAF team

THANK YOU! Rewards and more..

A massive thanks to everyone who has pledged so far! We're delighted to have raised 8% of our target but we still have a long way to go! To reach our target of €15,000 by THURSDAY 5 MAY we need to raise €300 per day. Get family and friends to pledge as little as €5 and we'll be well on our way. Don't forget about our unique rewards. As well as receiving a copy of the book itself, we're also offering to give you a specially produced Open House Dublin canvas bag (designed by the fantastic Conor and David), a discount on self-catering holiday accommodation in a host of interest and unusual landmark properties run by the Irish Landmark Trust (see www.irishlandmark.com). We've got an exclusive set of limited edition signed prints by award winning practice Grafton Architects including 'Universita Luigi Bocconi, Milan', the design which won the 'World Building of the Year' Award in 2008. BE PART OF THE POWER OF THE CROWD IN FUNDING CREATIVITY IN IRELAND! Thanks IAF Team
