PB8 A Magazine of Poetry.

By The Poetry Bus

This will be the 8th issue of Poetry Bus Magazine.

We strongly feel there is a need for PB, to provide an alternative to the mainstream magazines and groups, to foster a more inclusive ethos and embrace a broader range of poems and poets. Gender balanced from the very first issue nine years ago PB has been at the forefront of equality of opportunity for all, regardless of class, colour, creed, gender, sexuality, friend or foe. A PB poem is a poem chosen for what it says, not who has said it.

Funding from the Arts Council of Ireland has proved elusive. Fundit is the perfect way to fund a people's magazine.

Collette has an artistic background and Peadar has published two collections of poetry.

If successful in raising the money, nothing can stop us!

A million thanks to everyone for reading, sharing, and hopefully funding!

All posted!

Hello Everyone,

The mag was launched on Saturday night, and a great night it was too! Wine, poetry, song, wine, fun, wine, laughter, chats, wine. You get the picture.

Now the dust has settled and our heads recovered we've been hitting the post office. Every funder's chosen reward has been posted, so if you don't receive anything in the near future (depending on distance) please get in touch.

Also any anonymous donors who mistakenly chose 'No Reward' and would to get something, please let us know.

We really hope you all enjoy your mags and books and would love to hear back what you think of them.
Our email is buspoems@gmail.com or thepoetrybusmag@gmail.com

As we've said before, without your help PB could not survive, you are brilliant, you are directly supporting the arts and giving many poets the chance to be heard and oft times giving a voice to the unfashionable (in the eyes of the latest fad clique), the left out, the marginalised and the ignored as well as the better known poets. We believe this to be vital to mix all schools of thought, all backgrounds, in a beautiful melting pot of poetry. Hardly rocket science, we'd imagined all poetry mags and the poetry scene would naturally be like this, devoid of the machinations of the competitive world, but... well, enough of all that. For now we (Collette and I) just want to say

Peadar and Collette xx

PS. Please share your thoughts about PB8 on social media etc. Spread the good news!

Anonymous people!

Dear friends,
Apologies for two messages in one day.
This is a special message for our anonymous funders. There are 7 of you who either deliberately or mistakenly didn't choose a reward. If that was a mistake then please get in touch @buspoems@gmail.com and let us know which reward you would have chosen. Thank you.

Also an update on the launch (Sat 12th 6.30pm Vintage rooms,
Workmans Club, Wellington Quay, Dublin) We will be joined by BeRn performing some of her music.
More info here http://www.bernmusic.ie/

It's going to be a mighty night, come along, tell your friends, the more the merrier.

YOU did it! You have brought the eigth issue of our magazine to life, thank you all so much.
We are scheduled to pick up the mags from the printers on Friday and on Saturday 12th the magazine will be launched at The Vintage Rooms, The Workmans Club, Wellington Quay, Dublin at 6.30pm. It would be brilliant to see you there and hand you your reward. There will be readings from Siobhan Twomey, Jean O'Brien, Catherine Ann Cullen, Mary O'Donnell, Jim Ward, Ruth Quinlan.
Plus we will be joined by The Poets' Republic from Scotland on their Big Wee Tour of Ireland with Hugh McMillan, Magi Gibson, Neil Young.
There will be wine and Aldi's finest snacks, it will be a great night (we're hoping for some music too!)
If you can't make it don't worry we will be hitting the post office on Monday with your books.

Love and Peace to all of you wonderful people. This magazine belngs to YOU!

Peadar and Collette.

Over The Line!

Oh boy, that's a relief, we were sweating there for a while!
Many thanks to these wonderful people below (plus the 10 anonymous funders.) Without you there would be no magazine and this magazine is going to be great. THANK YOU!

Over the half way line!

Bleurgh! Dying of a head cold here, BUT the best medicine is seeing our pledges rising, we are up to €295, which is fantastic, a million thanks to our new anonymouse funders and ESC Magazine, Sue Finch, Roisin Bugler, Bink Owen, Michael Corrigan, Paul Dillon.

Still a way to go so if you know anyone who might like a copy of PB8 or any of the other mags/books, do let them know!

I'm off to celebrate with a Lemsip. Wahoooo!

And we're off!

Day one is pretty much over and we've hit the quarter way post (virtually). A million thanks to Mick Corrigan, Sue Finch, Roisin Bugler and our three incognito amigos/amigas.

Still a long way to go, so tell all your friends, neighbours, enemies, the village idiot, and any passers by, to join in and treat themselves to some indie published poetry!

It's as cracker of an issue with more variety than Aldi on Specials Day.

Come on everybody!
