We at Ramblinman Theatre Company are proud to announce that our critically acclaimed production of 'True West' is set to return to Smock Alley Theatre from the 20th August – 1st September 2012. Our creative ensemble of Genevieve Hulme-Beaman, Cillian O'Gairbhi and Jamie O'Neill are once again coming together to explore the art of storytelling through this modern American classic.
"True West calls for extremely committed acting and an organised production team and Ramblinman provided both. Jamie O'Neill and Cillian O'Gairbhi excelled as the brothers locked in a power struggle over intellectual property rights and authorship. True West is funny, outrageous and intriguing and Ramblinman capture Sam Shepard's play extremely well.”
Paul Meade, Artistic Director,Gúna Nua Theatre Co.
“I recently saw True West at the Smock Alley Black Box Theatre-an excellent evening of theatre and a wonderful showcase for the talents of Cillian O’ Gairbhi and Jamie O’Neill. Sam Shepard would have been delighted. I hope this production can find another chance to reach and delight a wider audience.”
Maureen White, Rough Magic Theatre Co.
"Ramblinman Theatre co. seems to be able to create that rare thing: dynamic live theatre. This makes them an important new company. It is essential that their creativity is nurtured and encouraged as they move forward.
I have helped them out-if you get a chance perhaps you might do so too.
And if you haven’t seen their production of ‘True West’ then go see it when it comes back.”
Patrick Sutton, Director of Smock Alley Theatre.
“Seeing True West in Smock Alley reminded me of why I love theatre so much. The production pulled me into it’s vortex with complete belief in every moment. This is what we all aim to create in theatre. For this to happen with a first time director and two actors in the central roles who have just graduated from acting school is exceptional.
The vitality and danger of the performances was a joy to behold. The two young leads performed with absolute belief, spontaneity and complete trust. The fantastical qualities and the varying levels of reality in the writing felt totally organic.
I would love to see Ramblinman revive this production for a longer run so that more people can get to see it, but also because this creative team needs the opportunity to explore their remarkable creativity and their beautiful ensemble playing.”
