Figure 8 Productions presents the premiere of "Remember to Breathe”. Aged 28, Maeve, is learning to swim in a pool in New Zealand, but her heart and mind keep pulling her home...
‘I finally signed up for lessons - ignoring the voice inside that insists I am betraying you…’
In post-earthquake Christchurch, New Zealand, recent emigrant Maeve, is learning to swim, egged on by self-professed ‘swimming messiah’ Doreen. As she battles the water, her own fears, and the pull of an unresolved dilemna with her much-loved father back home, Maeve is fighting to re-make her life. Follow Maeve as she attempts to swim free from the ties that bind.
"Remember to Breathe" stars acclaimed actors Liz Fitzgibbon as Maeve and Raymond Keane as her father, Johnny. A draft of the script was one of 6 shortlisted from 900 for the BBC International Playwriting Award 2014.
Your support will help our talented team to give this play its world premiere this September in Dublin, and possibly a national tour afterwards. This will be a highly evocative theatre production which will involve a specific lighting design to emulate the pool environment and bring the audience across space and time from New Zealand to Ireland. Your contribution will help us to fully realise the play’s aesthetic and bring our production to audiences as the best it can be.
