Due to the cancellation of the 2011 Ranelagh Arts Festival, Cracked Light Productions has offered to produce FREE performances of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet in Ranelagh Gardens from the 9th – 14th of August. When the Iveagh Gardens found out about our production, they also donated use of their park from the 17th -21st of August.
Our goal is to fill a void in the arts and in these communities by creating an extraordinary outdoor theatrical event. We have stripped away all unnecessary production values and are focused on creating a show of the highest entertainment value.
Our production is unplugged – there will be no sound system, no lights, no mics, no electricity and nothing artificial. Just like the exceptional unplugged performances on MTV, our show will utilise the talents of our performers to create an unforgettable evening of live entertainment.
Your pledges and support will help fund our €5,000 production budget, including the cost of renting, transporting and erecting our set, purchasing costumes and props, and getting our fliers, posters and programmes printed.
In these difficult economic times, arts, culture and entertainment become more vital to communities. Providing FREE performances will allow families and friends to share and experience pride and joy in their community no matter what economic hardships they are facing. This is crucial to rebuilding morale and vitality in Ireland.
With a pledge as little as €10, you can be a part of this unique community event. We have the talent and ability to produce exceptional entertainment; you have the power to fund it.
Since we are in this to make art and not money, Cracked Light Productions is a not for profit theatre company. Both the producers and director of Romeo & Juliet are donating their time, talents and resources to this event and will not be paid for their work. All of the professional actors are working on a profit share basis, meaning any funds available after our production expenses are met will be split amongst the 32 member cast.
Everyone is getting involved. Norman & Brown hair salon in Ranelagh has offered to donate hair and make-up services. Amazon Landscaping has offered help with flowers and plants for our set dressing. Individual volunteers will be working back stage and helping every night in the parks for our performances.
No matter how much you pledge, you will be invited to take a bow with the cast at the end of the show(s) you attend. There are lots of other fun and memorable perks depending on the level of your pledge. Please remember every little bit counts and we can make every €10 pledge go a long, long way.
Thank you for your interest and your support,
