Ronan Halpin Sculpture Exhibition

By Ronan Halpin

description

My name is Ronan Halpin, I am a sculptor living on Achill Island. I have been working as a sculptor for 25 years and this September I will be holding the first solo exhibition of my work in over 15 years. The exhibition will be in Carraholly, Westport, Co Mayo. The venue for the exhibition will be the beautiful, secluded gardens of Pierre Blezat who runs a  guest house from there. Pierre has invited me to show my work in his garden which overlooks Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick. The opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Saturday September 22nd and is strictly invite only. The show will run for three weeks until Friday October 12th.

The Westport Arts Festival have agreed to list my exhibition as part of their schedule.

The exhibition will be promoted by the Solomon Gallery in Dublin.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has agreed to open the exhibition.

All photographs for the catalogue and the promotional video are courtesy of John Michael Nicolai, an American photographer who is now living on Achill.
I am hoping to use the funds raised to produce a full colour catalogue for the show and to cover postage costs. I have also factored in the cost of an opening reception.

To produce a 12 page full colour catalogue will cost €2000, to cover mailing will require €1500 and the opening reception to be attended by the Taoiseach will cost €750. I have already received €250 from Mayo County Council.

The work for this exhibition will consist mainly of large scale outdoor pieces alongside some smaller works inside. The theme for much of the work is based on the figure, whether it is human or animal. The sculptures are mainly constructed in a combination of steel, corten steel and concrete.
