Seán Tyrrell here,
Many of you will remember that it was through Fund it that I was able to launch ‘The Walker Of The Snow’ two years ago. I am asking you, my supporters, to help me raise the money to go towards the recording, mixing, mastering, and duplication of my new album ‘Moonlight On Galway Bay’ to be launched Wednesday April 2nd 2014 in the Backroom of the Burren in Boston.
For your support you will receive great rewards of which there are various options depending on how involved you wish to become. Rewards on offer can be seen at the bottom left hand side of this page. Your contributions will help make this album become a reality.
I am deeply indebted to an old lady whom I met at the Milwaukee festival about 10 years ago as she opened my eyes to the greatness of not only ‘Galway Bay’ but also ‘I’ll Take you home again Kathleen’, ‘Danny Boy’, ‘Noreen Bán’ (Bawn), ‘Come Back Paddy Reilly’, ‘Star of the County Down’, ‘The Mountains of Mourne’ and that great Irish blues song ‘The Black Velvet Band’. In my defense, however, I have always (when asked) sang The Black Velvet Band.
I announced the project in my recent newsletter and got this reaction from a great friend:
“Seán you told me it (these songs) was leprechaun music and good only for the corned beef and cabbage circuit in the States. I felt duly chastised and went on to learn about and appreciate the "real" music you created. Upon 2nd reading of your recent email I STILL wasn’t sure if it was an Internet hoax of some sort. I would love to hear them sung by you; you with that unmistakable forlorn voice of yours”.
“Tom, I never thought I would see the day that I would be recording these songs but once smitten could not resist their charm or the temptation to maybe breath new life into them. I just hope I have treated them with due respect and the justice they deserve.”
I have already began organising a tour to follow the launch of the album. The tour will continue throughout the summer (in the U.S/Canada, and Ireland) and hopefully I will meet many, if not all, of you on the journey. In anticipation a heartfelt thanks for your continued support on my musical journey. Míle Buíochas.
