Shadowskin

By Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Theatre

description

Come with us into the Wildwood, the Never-Still, the place where all your shiverings live as we welcome you back into a story you thought you knew off by heart. Using state of the art animation and puppetry we invite you to experience the thrills, the scares and the mystery of a story everyone knows and nobody’s ever heard before. We can’t promise it’s for the faint-hearted, but then the best stories never are…

Shadowskin is the new production from up-and-coming company Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. It is written and directed by Diane Crotty and designed and built by Sinead O'Brien.

Diane- who claims she was raised by a group of nomadic, theatre-producing Northsiders- has been involved in plays on the banks of the lovely Liffey since she was in her teens. She directs, designs, stage-manages and acts, working with companies as diverse as 3 Bags Full, Focus Theatre and Classic Stage Ireland. She was also a member of the Dublin Youth Theatre many, many, many moons ago. The fact that this is her first script both intrigues and surprises her, since she's wanted to write for the theatre ever since she realised she couldn't grow up to be a professional hobbit.

Sinead O'Brien was raised by a wily puppeteer in the wilds of Cork (and just about every other county in this fair land) and has interned with Spraoi (2010) as well Truth & Beauty Puppet Theatre (2007-2009) and Samhlu (2006). She acts, designs, produces and makes props. She also has evil overlord superpowers- But we don't like to talk about that...

At the moment Shadowskin is in pre-production, which means that we have written the script, drawn the concept art (like everything else in this production it was all done by hand) and also written the music. We are currently building the puppets in a super-secret location (AKA the director's front room) which is why we desperately need funding. We need to buy builders' foam, latex, rags and all the other sparkly bits and pieces that go into making a show. We also need to start doing things like buying insurance, putting the deposit on a venue and finding rehearsal space so that we can start working on the show with live performers.

In essence, all the stuff that can't be done in the director's front room.

And that's why we're on this site: You can help with all of the above, both by funding us here and also keeping in touch with us through facebook and twitter. We would love to hear from you- We're hoping you're as excited about the show as we are. Shadowskin is our baby and it's nearing its first birthday: Exceeding our target would be the best first birthday pressie ever for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and this project. So thank you for even reading this far let alone funding us; We hope to hear from you soon. And just so you know?

You're the soundest person in the world for helping us.

Shadowskin Delayed!

To all our fundit sponsors, We would like to reiterate our sincere thanks for all of your generous donations earlier this year. Because we want Shadowskin to be the best show it can possibly be, it has been decided that more funds and much needed time is required in order to present this spectacular puppet Fairytale to an anticipating Dublin audience. Solid plans are currently in motion in order to further fund the rescheduled event for 6th - 12th May 2013. We assure you that your donations have been of immense support to the project and we could not have made it this far without your help. We truly look forward to showcasing Shadowskin in the new year and hope to see you all there. It will be, without a doubt, unmissable. Our sincerest thanks, The Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Team PS If you have any questions about your rewards- which are still forthcoming, by the way!- or anything else, then please get in touch with us on facer or twitter/ We'd love to hear from you, and we assure you that the show is going to be awesome.

Eye of the Puppet...

And so as we inch ever closer to our target i just wanted to touch base with anybody reading this, invite them to sit down, listen to some cool jazz and peruse the images we've just uploaded to give you an idea of what the animation will look like. I can't embed them here but facebook users can see them here: http://www.facebook.com/WTangoTheatreCo (look for the Silhouettes for Shadowskin album While non-facers can view them here: http://www.tumblr.com/blog/whiskeytangogrrl on tumblr (see, it's not just for "Otters Who Look Like Benedict Cumberbatch...) There's more on the way, as well as some stuff about the visual influences of the show so you should check it out, oh gentle reader... Night!

A big thank you to all who have funded us so far!

Hello there all! We in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot haven't been around for a couple of weeks- things to do in the real world unfortunately interfered with out presence in cyberspace- But we're back and we just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has funded us. (To hear me say it in person go here: https://vimeo.com/42974694 ) We've had a few things happening: We were collecting in costume for the Coolock women and children's shelter on Saturday (check out the pictures on our facebook page) and we were also organising a pub quiz with the lovely lads at Nealons Bar which went very well. Other plans are afoot which are of course top secret- But worry not, you'll be the first to know about them. So thank again and i hope everyone out there is enjoying the sunshine... Diane

I'm so excited I'm officially behaving like a puppet nerd...

Well, this weekend has just been awesome in so many ways. Firstly we finally got the first puppet strung and on its feet (literally) which you can see if you check out our facebook page (the album is called- aptly enough- "It's Alive!!!!!"). Then we found out that Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is going to be performing at the Women's Market in the Chocolate Factor on May 26th, which is in aid of building a women's shelter, a very good cause. Then we go live here on fundit which we've been looking forward to doing for aaaagges. And finally, we have our first pledge ever, which is made of awesome and awesome products. So thank you to our first funder, and thank you to anyone who's reading this. Thanks for making it a great week :-)
