Sheskin Smoked Salmon

Becoming parents we re-evaluated what was really important for us and concluded that we wanted to create a business that we were not only crazy passionate about but that would allow us to spend as much time together as a family as possible. Our goal is to create a hot smoking business that specialises in 'Candied Salmon'- a product traditionally produced on the west coast of North America. We would like to make the product available nationally at markets & events as well as develop an online store.

As a couple we are half Canadian & half Irish & have had the pleasure of travelling to & living in many corners of the globe. We are both trained chefs & have a combined 20+ years in the food & beverage industry. We've worked the ranks from line chef to manager to restaurant owner & everything in between. Although we've enjoyed management positions in a thriving restaurant since moving back home to Ireland, we are entrepreneurs at heart & are keen & committed to creating a business of our own again.

We're a young family asking for a little help getting our dream business off the ground. We've given up our jobs to commit ourselves fully to the business & we just need a boost to take us to the next level so that we can bring a new & exciting locally produced product to the Irish market!

Funds raised will help to create or acquire the necessary premises to produce & package our smoked salmon locally. We are working in close contact with the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority to ensure we meet all appropriate requirements to create a safe & environmentally conscious product to go to market as soon as possible. Funds will also help to complete our first market bound batches of Candied Salmon as well as develop our online store.  

Our product will be entering a very popular consumer market & the smoked salmon industry is thriving with competition. However, we are confident that currently there are very few products even similar to ours & no existing products that will use the same ingredients & techniques. The unique flavour profile & texture will appeal to customers currently purchasing the traditional smoked salmon found on shelves, but also to those who aren't.
