The Far Side Festival, Athlone's Mindfest is a new arts festival in Athlone. It takes place from September 18th to 20th in Athlone. It will include art photography exhibitions, music events, a festival club, writing workshops, readings, dancing, comedy, psychology, history and much more.
The festival is being run by a small voluntary group and we have received some funding from the Arts Council and are still awaiting on the outcome of other funding applications. So we have decided to do a little fundraising ourselves.
For just 50 Euros, you can become a friend of the festival and attend all 15 festival events we have presently scheduled for free. Events include a poetry reading with Paula Meehan, Sounds of the Farside Concert in the historic Methodist Church in Athlone with Rivers and Crows and The Driftwood Manor.
The Festival seeks to push the boundaries of creativity and community engagement and to bring together distinct areas such as photography and psychology, poetry and dance, music and comedy for one magical weekend in the centre of Ireland. We are a festival that values community and creativity and we want to use crowd funding to support our festival so we can develop a diverse and exciting programme.
