The Hungry Vegan is a startup food business, producing quality, fresh, tasty vegan food including salads and wraps with interesting ingredients and flavour combinations. To meet with food safety requirements, it is necessary to keep food in a refrigerated unit. The Hungry Vegan will do this from bikes with an attached fridge unit, similar to an ice cream bike.
The funding will go towards the purchase of the first ice cream bike, which is fundamental for enabling The Hungry Vegan to go mobile and park and serve tasty fresh products. Initial test locations will be areas close to Dalkey and Dun Laoghaire, a couple of city centre lunchtime areas and then gradually more and more areas and the addition of more mobile units.
So far The Hungry Vegan consists of one person, me. I am a lifetime vegetarian and vegan for the past 5 years. I have first hand knowledge of this problem and have gained further information from a survey on Survey Monkey and through direct contact with people. I cannot solve all of the problems highlighted, but I can provide tasty, fresh, plant based food to satisfy fellow hungry vegans and vegetarians and those seeking good plant based, healthy food on-the-go.
By reaching this target The Hungry Vegan will be able to purchase a mobile bike chill unit, it will also cover the costs of customizing the bike with branding and logo etc., allowing for presence at various outdoor locations including markets and some food festivals. It will be the first step in helping to mobilize The Hungry Vegan and the purchase of future units. The progress will be documented on The Hungry Vegan Instagram and Facebook pages @thehungryveganfood This new unit will do some trial dates which will be well advertised on Social Media and will be just in time for plenty of Christmas outings!
The Hungry Vegan is a fledgling business and so far I have funded everything myself, including the use of a commercial kitchen, purchase of utensils and equipment, ingredients for testing and everything that was required for the soft launch at The Lobster Festival in Dalkey 24-25 August. I need some help with funding to take it to the next level.
All of The Hungry Vegan packaging is fully compostable, made from plants.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about this project!

Thank you to all those who have pledged so far, we still have a bit to go. Thank you to Peter Roberts of Roberts of Dalkey for taking the initiative to help a startup business, Wraps and salads available in Roberts and to his staff for being so enthusiastic in selling them. To bring this food to the masses, is the job of this bike unit! Thanks again, Yvonne

For anyone funding from the USA you may experience a slight problem, your bank may initially block your attempt to fund. This is because the amount is not immediately withdrawn from your account.
It should be easily solved by calling them to let them know the transaction is legitimate
